Motorola Planned to Entry, Mid-level Mobile Phones In India

This festive season Motorola has brought three new phones to India. The new phones are MOTO ZN300, MOTOYUVA WX160 and MOTOYUVA WX180. The MOTO ZN300 is a slider phone with 3.1 megapixel camera with LED flash and 8x digital zoom. Controls light up on the MOTO ZN300 screen as the camera moves between ‘Capture’ and ‘Review’ modes. One can send the images to friends or transfer or print photos using Stereo Bluetooth technology.

The MOTO ZN300 comes with up to 32GB of optional removable memory and allows you to share content with home computers and other devices using the USB 2.0 high speed connection, which enables transfers fifteen times faster than traditional USB 2.0 full speed, as per the company.

The MOTO ZN300 comes with an advanced video editing capability. The phone features Video Mixer — a function that gives you the option to add customisable or preloaded transitions and sound effects to your videos. “Instantly mix them with photos and audio files for a professional-looking clip, complete with transitions and overlays — all from your handset!” Motorola explained.

Faisal Siddiqui, country head, mobile devices, Motorola India, said, “The ZN300 is designed for those who thrive on content consumption and creation. It combines familiar digital camera functionality with strong features, giving you the freedom to shape pop culture, on your terms.”

The new MOTOYUVA WX180 comes with 1.5-inch 65k colour display. The integrated FM radio with RDS3 displays available station information like song, artist and genre. The phone can store up to 140 messages. With hands-free options, the MOTOYUVA WX180 offers a conference call function for hosting up to five participants.

The MOTOYUVA WX160 turns it up with embedded FM radio. See song and station information with RDS. With a 1.3-inch black and white display with colour background, the phone comes with long-life battery. The MOTOYUVA WX160 gives up to 7 hours of talk time and storage of up to 140 messages and 100 contacts.

All the three Motorola mobile phones are now available at retail stores in India. MOTOZN 300 comes at a price of Rs 7,999, MOTOYUVA WX160 Rs 1,499 and MOTOYUVA WX180 Rs 1,649.

Motorola Introduces Its First Android Phone

Motorola’s First Android Phone Coming to UK Motorola the US mobile phone manufacturer announced the launch of its very first Android phone this week, to be named Cliq. Next month, the company plans to introduce the model to the UK, under the slightly different brand name, Dext.

The new phone will be exclusive to the Orange network who are to offer it on a two-year contract of £25 a month or an eighteen-month deal for £30 a month. The Dext will have a touchscreen display of 3.1 inch, 320 x 480 pixels similar to the iPhone. It has a keyboard that slides out with a multi-directional pad, WiFi, GPS, accelerometer and a five-megapixel camera with autofocus and flash and a micro SD memory slot.

The Dext is being run on Google’s Android platform (version 1.5) with Google Tools enabling social networking integration of sites such as Facebook, Twitter, Photobucket and MySpace.

The new model uses a customised user face called MOTOBLUR, which has a unique widget called the Happenings, allowing access to all the user’s social networks. All contacts can be seen together without having to visit the social networks separately although of course you can do that too.

The other major benefit from MOTOBLUR is that it has one single application for messaging, supplying one inbox to hold all messages from all the user’s email accounts.

Motorola CEO for Mobile devices Sanjay Jha said: “Motorola CLIQ with MOTOBLUR differentiates the Android experience for consumers by being the only smartphone that automatically syncs conversations, contacts and content, and delivers a solution that’s instinctive, social and smart.”

The CEO added that we can look forward to more smartphone models being launched by the company. The new smartphone spells new hope and a revival for the traditional Motorola company.

Windows Mobile 6.5, the upcoming version of Microsoft’s operating system for mobile phones, has been completed, and it is expected to come to the market on the first devices in about two months or so from now. There are no exact details on when the new platform will hit the shelves, yet it seems that the first videos with it have already emerged into the wild.

This time around, the Windows Mobile 6.5 has been caught on tape running on the Motorola Q9H. The version of the platform that can be seen in the video below is the Standard one, which seems to be about the same thing as the currently available WinMo 6.1 platform. The handset that it is running on is a rather old one, and users who would like to upgrade their phones to the new version should be delighted to learn that support for them already exists, though it all depends on what manufacturers and carriers they have in mind.

As for the looks of Windows Mobile 6.5, some people might be disappointed by the fact that it resembles the previous version that much, yet an explanation as to why things are this way will probably emerge in the near future. On the other hand, Microsoft already announced that the new software came more as some sort of enhancement to the existing platform, and that the real advancement would come along with Windows Mobile 7, which should arrive in the first half of next year.

Even so, the upcoming platform will also bring a series of novelties to WinMo users, including support for the Windows Marketplace for Mobile and a series of other services that the Redmond-based software company has recently released into the wild. At the same time, we should also wait for the first touchscreen handsets running under 6.5 to come to the market to see how it looks and performs there, for it might offer some pleasant surprises in the end.
