On seeing the LG GD 900 review one notices that the phone has a unique design. The phone has a 3 inch sensitive touch screen through which one control many features of the phone. The screen has a capacity to support 16 million colours. The transparent and sensitive keypad of the phone adds extreme style to the phone.  The phone is Wi-Fi enabled and a TV out port. To make the phone more useful it comes with Bluetooth, accelerometer, smart dialling and document viewer.

LG has announced the LG Chocolate BL20, a next generation mobile phone that builds on the legacy of the Chocolate brand. Much like the original Chocolate phone offered by LG, the BL20 features a glossy black surface with red highlights, but this time packs its technology into a thin 12.3mm (0.5in) body.

The BL20 features 3G data connectivity, a sliding keypad, hidden touch-navigation keys, and touch sensitive side controls. Users can customize their home screens with widgets and they can scan documents using the phone’s 5.0 megapixel autofocus camera and TextScan software feature. Users can listen to songs saved on microSD cards (16GB max) or they can tune in to the device’s FM radio.

The LG BL20 features a QVGA (240 x 320 pixel) resolution display that measures 2.4 inches across the diagonal, and weighs in at a reasonable 115g (4.1oz). It features tri-band (900/1800/1900MHz) GSM/EDGE and dual-band (900/2100MHz) UMTS/HSDPA connectivity, and is rated for up to 18 days of standby time or 5 hours of talk time from a full charge. Bluetooth wireless devices and email are also supported.

The LG Chocolate BL20 will be available in the UK from O2 in the fourth quarter. Pricing has not yet been announced.

The new LG-GW620 features a 3-inch full touchscreen and slide out QWERTY keypad. The LG-GW620 benefits from an operating system that was created from the ground up to take advantage of the many mobile applications and services developed by search leader Google.

In anticipation of strong demand for smartphones that support social networking functions right out-of-the-box, the LG-GW620 also lives up to LG’s consumer-friendly design philosophy by making the smartphone experience more accessible for typical users. At the same time, LG’s messaging phones have traditionally been very popular with young professionals who demand a full QWERTY keypad for a fast mobile computing experience. The LG-GW620 manages to meet the needs of both types of users simultaneously, explains the company.

“The LG-GW620 will appeal to first-time smartphone customers by offering a new and different kind of user experience,” said Dr Skott Ahn, president and CEO, LG Electronics Mobile Communications Company. “Our objective is to provide a wide selection of smartphones to satisfy the diverse preferences of today’s consumers. This Android phone is just one of many smartphone models we plan to introduce worldwide in the years ahead.”

In addition to the Android model, LG announced in early September that it will be introducing a minimum of 13 new smartphones over the next 16 months that utilise Microsoft’s Windows Mobile. The newest release, version 6.5, was announced just last week.

The LG-GW620 will be available in the fourth quarter of this year in select European markets.

As an added extra, LG has incorporated indicator lights that give out a flashing light when the user reviews a call. Weighing just 73kg, the new KG376 is great for fitting into a handbag or a clutch bag and is the ideal accessory when out on the town. It measures 85.9 X 45 X 19.8 mm, which is a handy size for the ladies. Although there has been little said about the other features that the phone boasts, it arrives with a QQVGA resolution entertainment is provided via a FM radio. The capacity of the battery is 750 mAh. With the amount of internal memory limited to 1 MB mark.

There has been no word from the powers that be as to the pricing or availability of the phones as yet, but it is expected to be well received by the female fraternity who like having an aesthetically pleasing accessory on their person. The graphic presentation of the new model bodes well fo r its popularity once it has been launched officially.

The main thing to notice is the BL40’s screen – it’s a huge 4″ 800 x 345 pixel panel, almost identical in terms of size and resolution to the Nokia E90. On the back is a 5 megapixel camera with flash and Schneider-Kreuznach optics.The front-facing camera on the BL40 indicates that it’s a 3G phone, and a close look at the icons indicate the probable presence of WiFi and an FM radio in addition to all the usual features. The LG BL40’s on-screen buttons indicate that this is a touchscreen device, and it works in both wide and tall orientations.

It’s an unusually tall phone, looking rather like.. well, rather like a bar of chocolate. LG didn’t specify the
exact size, but we think that it comes out at something like 128 x 52 x 11mm.. again, not far off the size of the E90 but about half the thickness.

The 800 pixel wide 12:9 ratio screen is definitely a huge advantage when it comes to web surfing, but LG’s “Real VGA” technology promises to deliver bright, sharp video playback too. LG also say that the BL40 comes with a “Dual Screen UI” which allows it to display two different types of content at the same time.

To be initially released into Russia, the GB109 will feature a 1.5in CSTN display packing in 65K colours.  Entertainment will be provided for by a stereo FM radio whilst productivity will be supplied by a built in organizer. The phone will be run by a 950 mAh battery that can last up to six hours in talk-time or up to 440 hours in stand-by time, according to the Widgetbox website.

The chassis of the new handset will also include quick-access keys for both the  FM radio and messaging.  No UK price or distribution has been revealed as yet.

Smartphones are big business, and there are more and more of ‘em coming out every month. But what I always like is the fact that for just about every type of smartphone, there’s a feature phone that mimics it, whilst being (obviously, since it’s not a smartphone) nowhere near as good.

Think about it, there’s touchscreen feature phones (compare the Samsung Tocco to the Samsung i8910 HD, and see, despite the similarities, which is better). There’s kind-of-touchscreen-enabled phones with a slide-out QWERTY keyboard (that’d be the kinda-touchscreen-enabled-but-only-for-the-dialler LG KS360).

According to Unwired View, there’s a phone, now, that apes the look of the Blackberry range of phones, and the HTC Snap, all in one go: the LG GW300.

What we have here is a phone that’s clearly designed to tap into the massive messaging boom that phones like the Blackberry range have brought about. People are starting to open up to the fact that QWERTY phones, by their very nature, are better for messaging, since you can type quicker. The days of purists who’ll only use alphanumeric keypads, with T9 turned off, are hopefully numbered, which hopefully means that people sending text messages will soon start using ‘English’ again.

But I digress…

Clearly what we’re looking at in the LG GW300 is an out and out messaging feature phone, and going by the bright blue bits on it (a similar design ethos to what they did with the KS360), this phone is clearly being marked out as 4 da kidz, innit. Of course, it will most likely find a market beyond that, since I reckon I know a few people who want the extra features it has (QWERTY keyboard, dedicated Facebook and email clients, funky colour scheme), but don’t want to get a smartphone like the HTC Snap (which has got very similar, if a lot more conservative, looks), either because they see it as too complicated, or too dear.

Orange has announced that its exclusive LG Touchscreen Watch Phone will hit UK stores in August.

The device will be one of a range of new ‘future phones’ Orange will be ranging over the next 18 months.

Available exclusively from Orange for a limited time period, the LG Watch Phone will be available on prepay, contract, or SIM-only. The 3G device features a Bluetooth headset, in-built speaker and a full touch-screen interface, as well as video-calling capabilities.

The device forms part of Orange’s new focus to showcase the latest high-end multimedia devices. Three more new “market-leading” devices are to be unveiled on the network by the end of the year.

Orange UK chief executive Tom Alexander said: “The Watch Phone is the must-have gadget of 2009. It’s handcrafted, exclusively limited, and will turn heads on the high street.

“Our ambition is to become the best loved communications brand in the UK, and the destination brand of choice for high-end mobile users in the market. LG’s latest affordable touchscreen handset, the GT500, has been made available exclusively through T-Mobile.

The GT500 comes with a 5-megapixel autofocus camera with image stabiliser and digital zoom features. It also comes with high-speed internet access and includes pre-installed links to sites such as Twitter and Facebook. Other features included are a Dolby sound system for improved audio quality and built-in GPS.

T-Mobile UK head of handset and device marketing Daniel Meredith said: “We are delighted to have the exclusive on the LG GT500. We expect its huge range of features will appeal to a wide audience, interested in both style and function. Music lovers will enjoy its top quality sound, and its high performance camera will not disappoint photo fans. Meanwhile, the T-Mobile internet on your phone service will ensure customers can stay connected.”

LG head of mobile marketing Jeremy Newing said: “We are committed to bringing phones to market which genuinely meet the consumer’s needs. The LG GT500 boasts both social networking and GPS features that genuinely deliver a rich user experience, all within a sleek touchscreen handset.”

You have to hand it to LG; they certainly think big. Y’see, a news story’s popped up on Unwired View, and it seems that by 2012, they’ve set their sights on overtaking Samsung, and becoming the second biggest phone manufacturer in the world.

That’s some goal, that is!

SO, how do they plan to achieve this milestone? Well, by making lots of new phones, and, it seems, going for proper, full-on high-enders. First on their ‘do this to rule the world’ list is a new Black Label phone. Some of you may remember the Black Label brand, as it was the one they used on things like the LG Shine. However, they don’t just plan on making any old Black Label phone, they’re after making one that’s a direct competitor for the iPhone. Whether that’ll be followed by its app store, though, is another thing entirely, but I wouldn’t put it past ‘em.

Ooh, imagine something like the LG Viewty Smart, with seven hundred million apps added to it. That’d rock.

Next on the list is another Prada phone. The first LG Prada was really rather pretty, the second one (the one with the QWERTY keyboard) was even better, so here’s hoping for something rather special from them for Mark III. As for their smartphones, they say they’re going to focus on Windows Mobile and Android.

The most surprising news, however, is that LG plan on setting up their own super-duper premium brand. You know the type I mean. Luxury phones, akin to the Vertu series. I’m not convinced that’ll help them up shoot up the manufacturer league table, but hey, at least it gives me another luxury phone brand to mock, and shout at for being too expensive.

Unless of course they make a really, really powerful luxury phone, then I might be annoyed. Whether these plans will actually get them into the number 2 spot is hard to predict, but we should get some cracking good phones out of them while they’re trying to get there!
