The HTC Tattoo is the second android phone, the device runs Android with HTC’s beatifying Sense interface (as seen on the Hero), and has a 3.2MP camera, 3.5mm headphone-jack, and MicroSD storage.

HTC Tattoo – Breathe a Bit of You Into Your Phone

It’s time your phone reflected your style, your world. Choose a unique color your HTC Tattoo, or even design a cover yourself. Set the artist inside free, as you craft a phone interface that is just right for you. And never miss out on all the amazing things happening in your world with social networking integrated to the core of Tattoo.

HTC Tattoo is all about you. It’s the first phone that can be customized inside and out. Decide how your phone looks, then decide what you want to look at. Texts? Twitter? Your photos? When you’re done customizing HTC Tattoo, you’ll have a phone that speaks loudly about who you are and what you’re into.

Your phone is by your side 24/7 and looks do matter. With HTC Tattoo, you don’t just pick the look, you make the look, by designing your own personal skin for the phone. Next, you decide what really matters to you on your phone. So if you’re into chatting, texting, and tweeting, you’ll put all your communication widgets and apps right on your front screen. If you’re into games, you’ll visit Android Market and download all the games you want. Put them right on the surface – ready to kill boredom whenever it tries to come out.

This 2.8-inch touchscreen device is pretty compact (106 x 55.2 x 14-mm / 113 grams) inspite of the features it carries. So count in a 528MHz Qualcomm MSM7225 processor, 512MB ROM, 256MB RAM, a 3.2MP autofocus camera, 3.5-mm headset jack, microSD slot, internal GPS, 900/2100MHz HSPA/UMTS and quad-band GSM/EDGE, 802.11b/g WiFi, digital compass, accelerometer, and Bluetooth 2.0. Yes, you will not miss the trademark Sense UI experience as HTC has extended it to this device as well. The covers are apparently fully customizable – and hence the device flaunts the name “Tattoo”.

Ooh, now here’s a not entirely unexpected story. Android, as we all know, is an open source phone OS, which theoretically means lots of phones can use it, from top-end smartphones (Sony Ericsson Rachael, anyone?) to low-enders aimed at the mass market. So far, though, we’ve only seen Android pop up in relatively high-end smartphones.

However, Android is, by definition, a smartphone OS, so basically any phone you put it in is automatically a smartphone, even if it’s a dirt cheap one. That leads on to the intriguing possibility of having entry-level smartphones, phones that do what the top-enders do, but are aimed at the low, mass market end of the spectrum. Smartphones that sell in bulk, basically.

Well according to Slashgear, that may be exactly what we’re seeing here, in the shape of the HTC Click.

And let’s be honest, the fact it looks like the baby brother to the HTC Magic (albeit with a D-pad instead of a trackball, which would tie in with the notion of a cheaper smartphone) only serves to reinforce that idea. Now, of course, this is only a rumour at the minute, but if it’s a hoax, or it’s not the genuine article, than it’s a frighteningly good fake. If I had a reputation, I’d stake it on the HTC Click being the genuine article.

So, what’s the point of the HTC Click? Is it to give people who wouldn’t otherwise have a smartphone the chance to own one? Or is it (and I suspect this is the real reason why Android is Open Source) because Google want in on every market segment, from top-enders to mass market bulk phones?

But anyway, yes, this is a rumour at the moment, but don’t be surprised if it turns out to be true…

The company said in February it’s committed to bringing the full version to Google (NSDQ: GOOG)’s Android, Microsoft (NSDQ: MSFT)’s Windows Mobile, Nokia (NYSE: NOK)’s S60 Symbian, and Palm’s webOS.

“We are bringing Flash Player 10 to smartphone-class devices to enable the latest Web browsing experience,” Adobe CEO Shantanu Naraye said during an investor call. “Multiple partners have already received early versions of this release and we expect to release a beta version for developers at our MAX Conference in October.”The move could open up tens of millions of devices for Flash developers and content creators, as well as give consumers a richer mobile Internet experience. Adobe has created the Open Screen Project to help it achieve its goal of creating a standard platform that can be used on desktops, mobile phones, and other devices.

The two major players missing from the list are Research In Motion (NSDQ: RIMM)’s BlackBerry and Apple’s iPhone. Adobe said it has been working with RIM, but they aren’t far enough to announce anything. The iPhone is another matter altogether, and Flash may never wind up on Apple’s touch-screen smartphone.

Apple CEO Steve Jobs has said Flash is not good enough for the iPhone because of its resource requirements. Some industry watchers also believe having Flash could potentially detract from the App Store because developers could decide to just create content with Adobe’s technology. Additionally, Apple appears to be placing some bets that HTML 5 can provide iPhone users with Flash-like capabilities like video streaming.

Some first look reviews for Google G1 Phone can be read here

What is the expected price of Google G1 Phone Android in India?
The Google G1 Phone Android is expected to cost more than what it is costing in USA. The current offering in US for Google G1 Phone Android is in the range from $179 to $199. In India, Google G1 Phone Android is expected to cost much higher than that (like the Apple iPhone price dispcrepancy between US & India). The reason being quoted by the HTC is “the Indian market does not work on the handset subsidy model”.
So Google G1 Phone Android aspirants, be ready to shell out more money for your purchase of Google Phone G1. Though the price is expected to be a little less than Apple iPhone for having some competitive edge.

Will the Google G1 Phone Android be offered as “locked” phone in India to a Mobile Service Provider?
Most probably YES. HTC officials say that they would prefer a mobile operator tie-up to introduce the Google phone in India in December. Rumors are that most probably the mobile service provider would be Airtel. As per the news, HTC India has an exclusive partnership with Airtel, is also open to selling the G1 phone through independent retail channels.

How much sales are being targeted by Google G1 Phone Android in India?
Google G1 Phone with Android is expected to sell 400,000 units by the end of 2008 i.e. in just one month of launch. That would constitute 4% of market share of smart phone market. In the next year 2009, HTC India hopes to sell 600,000 mobile devices.

Anything special about Google G1 Phone Android?
HTC’s device is a 3G phone with a touch-screen, slider keyboard, GPS and Wi-Fi. Android is a Linux-based operating system for mobile devices that was announced in November last year and developed by the Open Handset Alliance — a group comprising players like Google, HTC, Intel, Motorola and Samsung. Moreover, the name Google does not need any marketing strategy – people trust it by the heart. However, the biggest constraint is the availability of 3G network across India, which would severly hurt the applications to work on these smart phones.
