Amazon today announced its Amazon Mobile Payments Service (MPS) for developers.

The new service will allow developers to create software payment systems that let customers pay using their Amazon.com accounts across third party mobile sites.

MPS users will also be able to implement Amazon’s 1-Click purchase option so that customers can avoid entering in lengthy payment details from their mobile phones.

Handmark.com will be one of Amazon’s first partners to offer its Mobile Payment service, allowing users to purchase new mobile applications using their Amazon accounts.
